Building a Network to Accomidate for Growth and High Speed Demands
Over the last week I have purchased the following items for the network I am in the process of Building.

Brand New DATA/COMMS / 19" 7U RACK CABINET/PDU Bundle


This piece of Hardware is to be mounted on a wall up in the corned of the office, All network points will terminate inside this box.

Brand New Category 5e Patch Panel Series - 24-port

2 of these will provide me with 48 ports that will service all the telecoms ports needed for the office and home data, voice, media requirements.

Brand New 1U 200MM Deep Data Cabinet Shelf

Shelf to sit inside the Comms Cabinet and support devices that are not rack mountable but require location within the rack.

Brand New 1U Cable Management Bar

A simple rack mountable bar that is fitted with hooks to facilitate tidy routing of cables and easy of storage for excessive lengths of cable rather than allowing cable to dangle.

Brand New Netgear DG834 ADSL Router

Simple Modem router that allows port forwarding and can be configured NOT to use DHCP.
(Current BT supplied Modems do not have options to hand off DHCP leasing to another device on the network and also will not forward ports effectively unless it controls DHCP.)

Brand New Netgear FWAG114 Dual Band Wireless VPN Firewall

Will act as the networks firewall between the Modem and the network. VPN functions allow other *Remote* sites or dial up workers to connect to the network securely via the internet.
Wifi allows wireless users to connect to network but only after having authenticated with the VPN for security and also ease of use for the end user.

Brand New Netgear GS724T 24 Ports 10/100/1000 Gigabit Smart Switch

Managed switch allowing for much better network management such as QOS for certain devices. Trunking, Port configuration VLAN's ect. Switch is managed through a Web interface, can have its IP set by a DHCP server or can itself be the DHCP server. Switch contains 2x SFP GBIC fiber Slots allowing for Fiber optic connections to be made for future growth or even higher speed connections to be made to selected devices on the network such as media center and media server for example.

Good Point........

However I think I'll ignore it.

Whining about the lack of attention from the opposite sex requires far less effort that actually interacting with them so its a much more atractive option to me.
